At the center of the story is schoolboy Rick Riker, a typical loser who is bullied by his classmates. One day, during a school excursion to a science laboratory, the guy once again makes a mistake, and then tries to clean his shirt using acid instead of water, which attracts animals.
The galactic empire known as the Mother World has taken control of many planets, draining them of resources. After the murder of the royal family, power in the empire passes to Senator Balisarius, who tightens his expansion and sends troops to the most remote possessions, where a rebellion is already brewing.
