My Opinion & Impressions:

I just finished playing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, and wow—what a journey! Bethesda did an amazing job revitalizing this classic while keeping its soul intact. The enhanced graphics are stunning: sharper textures, improved lighting, and smoother character models make Cyrodiil feel more alive than ever. The draw distance is especially impressive—seeing the Imperial City from afar without fog is breathtaking.

That said, some aspects show their age. The NPC facial animations, though improved, still have that classic Oblivion jank, and the voice acting remains hilariously repetitive at times. But honestly, that’s part of the charm! The gameplay holds up well, though the leveling system still feels a bit unbalanced compared to modern RPGs.

The biggest win is the performance boost—no more stuttering or long load times, even on consoles. And with all DLCs included, it’s the definitive way to experience this gem.

Final Verdict: If you loved the original, this remaster is a must-play. If you’re new to Oblivion, expect a deeply immersive (if slightly dated) RPG with an incredible world to explore. 9/10 for nostalgia and polish, but don’t expect Skyrim-level refinements.

What do you all think? Does the remaster do justice to the original, or should Bethesda have changed more?

Bethesda nailed the balance between modernization and preserving Oblivion's unique charm. The visual upgrades, especially the draw distance and lighting, make Cyrodiil feel fresh yet familiar. And you're right, the janky NPCs and repetitive voice lines are almost nostalgic at this point - it wouldn't be Oblivion without them!

The performance improvements are a game-changer, though I wish they'd tweaked the leveling system to feel less punishing. Still, it's amazing how well the quests and world-building hold up. For me, this remaster is the best way to play, whether you're reliving memories or diving in for the first time.

That said, part of me wonders what could've been with slightly more ambitious updates - like fully revamped animations or modernized stealth mechanics. But then, would it still feel like Oblivion? Maybe Bethesda made the right call.

Solid 9/10 for me too. Now if only we could get a proper Morrowind remaster...
